A study carried out by the Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM) analysed the effectiveness of eggshell inner membrane on joint pain in patients diagnosed with arthritis. 

For this research, the visual analogue scales (VAS) for global osteoarthritis pain and the pain subscale (WOMAC) were used. These scales are used to assess the intensity of joint pain in patients with osteoarthritis, according to the effectiveness of the products under study and the variation in subjective perception of pain.

The sample comprised three groups of people. The comparative analysis showed a statistically significant difference between these three study groups. It can be affirmed that the experimental products (300 and 500 mg doses) improve the subjective perception of pain after 1 week of ingestion, compared to placebo.
